For Slovenia, there are three decades of development and experience in the institutionalization of ensuring national security as an independent state. Development has not always been straightforward, but the level of development achieved provides a good basis for continuation. What this development will be in the future will depend primarily on whether we know, be able and want to consolidate the strategic leadership of the country, including reaching a social consensus on the strategic interests and goals of the nation. This must be followed by a national security policy and system, which must be based on positive domestic and foreign experience, the ability of crisis analysis and the accumulation of knowledge of various professions in our country.
