The President of the Euro-Atlantic Council of Slovenia, Prof. Dr Iztok Prezelj, participated as a speaker at a roundtable discussion titled “Europe, Where Are You Going … 2.0”, held on 7 May at Slovenska Bistrica Castle. The event was organised by the Association of Slovenian Officers – Slovenska Bistrica Regional Association.
In the discussion moderated by journalist Slavko Bobovnik, Prof. Dr Prezelj addressed the current security challenges facing Europe. He outlined several possible future security scenarios, highlighted pathways towards reducing security threats and achieving lasting peace in Europe, and assessed Slovenia’s measures taken so far in this area.
The discussion also touched upon the activities of the European Union, which Prof. Dr Prezelj critically assessed in light of the current geopolitical environment, as well as broader geopolitical trends in relations between the United States, Europe, China and Russia.
The event provided an important platform for reflection on the future of European security, Slovenia’s role in a changing strategic environment, and the challenges that will continue to shape the European and Euro-Atlantic space in the years ahead.
