In July 2025, members of the Youth Section of the Euro-Atlantic Council of Slovenia (YATA Slovenia) conducted a series of presentations on Slovenia’s security architecture at the summer MoD Youth Camps in Bohinjska Bela and Novo mesto, as well as at the Military Youth Camp in Bohinjska Bela. In total, five presentations were delivered to nearly 800 young participants from across Slovenia.

The presentations introduced the structure and functioning of the national security system of the Republic of Slovenia in an accessible and engaging way, while also highlighting the importance of Slovenia’s membership in NATO and the European Union.

Through lectures and open discussions, members of the Youth Section addressed numerous questions and misconceptions related to national security, defence and security policy, institutional responsibilities, and Slovenia’s role in the international community. The initiative follows a “youth-to-youth” approach, aimed at raising awareness and encouraging the involvement of young people in current security debates.

The Youth Section of the Euro-Atlantic Council of Slovenia carries out this form of collaboration with the Ministry of Defence on a regular basis, both during winter and summer youth camps. These presentations contribute meaningfully to strengthening civil-military relations and provide a valuable platform for intergenerational dialogue and the exchange of knowledge and experience in the fields of security and defence.
