In June and July 2026, members of the Youth Section of the Euro-Atlantic Council of Slovenia (YATA Slovenia) continued their longstanding participation in the Ministry of Defence’s summer camps. They delivered five presentations on Slovenia’s national security system, the international security architecture and NATO at the Boštjan Kekec Barracks in Bohinjska Bela and the Franc Uršič Barracks in Novo mesto. Together, the camps attracted several hundred participants.
Through accessible and interactive presentations, YATA Slovenia members introduced young participants to the functioning of Slovenia’s national security system and the role and significance of Slovenia’s NATO membership. The presentations were followed by discussions, offering participants an opportunity to ask questions and explore common concerns surrounding security and defence.
The presentations follow a “youth-to-youth” approach, through which we raise awareness and encourage young people to engage actively in discussions on current security challenges. Direct dialogue enables an exchange of perspectives and helps young people better understand the security environment and their own role in building a resilient and secure society.
The Euro-Atlantic Council of Slovenia regularly cooperates with the Ministry of Defence through its winter and summer camps. These presentations contribute to stronger civil-military relations and create space for dialogue, the exchange of experiences and knowledge sharing in the fields of security and defence.
