Krištof Jagodic, member of the Euro-Atlantic Council of Slovenia, succesfully participated in the international academic seminar “Regional Security and Cooperation in the Western Balkans”, held in Dubrovnik, Croatia, from 15 to 19 June 2026. The seminar brought together academics, researchers, and students from Florida State University, the Faculty of Political Science at the University of Zagreb, and the University of Pristina.
As part of the programme, the Krištof delivered a presentation entitled “Diplomacy, Boots, and Borders: Slovenia’s Comprehensive Approach to Western Balkan Security”, outlining Slovenia’s comprehensive approach to promoting security and stability in the Western Balkans. The presentation examined the role of diplomacy, defence cooperation, and cross-border engagement in strengthening regional stability, as well as Slovenia’s contribution to Euro-Atlantic integration and regional cooperation initiatives.
The seminar focused on contemporary security, political, and geopolitical challenges in South-Eastern Europe. Through lectures, academic discussions, and research presentations, participants explored topics including European Union enlargement, defence cooperation, international state-building efforts, memory politics, and the influence of global actors on developments in the Western Balkans.
Through its participation in the event, the Euro-Atlantic Council contributed to the exchange of knowledge and experience and helped foster dialogue on the importance of regional cooperation, collective security, and Euro-Atlantic partnerships for the long-term stability and prosperity of the Western Balkans.
