On Thursday, April 3rd, a panel discussion titled “Analyzing Three Years of War in Ukraine and Forecasting the Future” was held at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana. The event was organized by the Euro-Atlantic Council of Slovenia (EACS) in cooperation with the Department of Defence Studies at the Faculty.

The opening remarks were delivered by Prof. Dr. Iztok Prezelj, President of EACS and Dean of the Faculty. The panel was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Jelena Juvan, Head of the Department of Defence Studies and Vice President of EACS.

The speakers included:

    • Mr. Mirko Cigler, geopolitical and security analyst, publicist, and former high-ranking officer and diplomat at the UN, OSCE, NATO, and the EU;
    • Major General (Ret.) Dr. Alojz Šteiner, former Chief of the General Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces and Defence Adviser of the Republic of Slovenia at the OSCE, UN, and other international organizations in Vienna;
    • Brin Najžer, PhD, advisor at Janes Strategic Services and Vice President of EACS.

Mr. Cigler, Major General (Ret.) Dr. Šteiner, and Dr. Najžer each offered valuable insights into the complexity of the war in Ukraine, addressing the issue from military, international, and broader security perspectives.
