At the roundtable entitled: “The Coming Challenges of Using Artificial Intelligence”, organised by the Chair of Defence Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences and the Euro–Atlantic Council of Slovenia, participants were able to follow a lively, diverse and multidisciplinary discussion. Artificial Intelligence systems are advancing at a rapid pace, which not only affects technological development, but also society at large, as it is already outpacing the speed of human perception. This is also very important from an ethical point of view, as the field of AI is understood by a very small number of people in society, which limits social science analysis. In the area of legal regulation, important steps have recently been taken at the level of international organisations, but the key role is still played by individual countries and their interests. Similarly, in the field of defence and national security, the use of AI acts as an advanced power amplifier, which is much more accessible to non-state stakeholders than other disruptive systems have been in the past. In the end, both speakers and participants agreed that more discussions like this are needed, as this is the only way to develop the right responses. We would like to express our sincere thanks to all speakers and participants.
