President: Matic Kosirnik (2025–today)

Matic Kosirnik holds a Bachelor’s degree in Defence Studies and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Defence and Security Studies at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana. As part of his academic development, he also studied at the War Studies University in Warsaw, specialising in security and strategic studies.

His academic and professional focus lies in national and international security, defence policy and planning, and Euro-Atlantic security institutions and frameworks. He is actively engaged in international security discourse through participation in high-level forums, analytical contributions on contemporary security challenges, and initiatives that promote youth engagement in security and defence matters.

In his role as President of the Youth Section of the Euro-Atlantic Council of Slovenia, he provides strategic leadership and oversees its substantive agenda, project development, and external engagement. His work is guided by a commitment to professionalism, coherence, and non-partisanship, with a strong emphasis on active membership, institutional credibility, and transparent organisational growth.

A key priority of his mandate is the strengthening of international cooperation within the Youth Atlantic Treaty Association (YATA) network, alongside expanding opportunities for meaningful youth participation in Euro-Atlantic security processes.

He also serves as Project Lead of Balkan SAYS – Security Architecture Youth Seminar, the flagship international youth security conference of the Euro-Atlantic Council of Slovenia, which convenes young professionals from across the Euro-Atlantic space to engage with pressing security challenges, with a particular focus on the Western Balkans and the wider Euro-Atlantic area
