
Sabina Salihović, member of the Youth Section of the Euro-Atlantic Council of Slovenia (YATA Slovenia), participated in the 28th edition of the Portuguese Atlantic Youth Seminar (PAYS), held from 19 to 26 July 2025 at the Portuguese Air Force Academy in Sintra, Portugal.
Organized annually by YATA Portugal, the seminar gathered over 50 participants from more than 15 countries, including students, young professionals, academics, civil society representatives, and political and military officials working in the field of international security and defense.
The central theme of this year’s seminar was “Strengthening Transatlantic Security Capabilities.” Discussions focused on key security issues such as:

- NATO’s southern neighborhood
- the Alliance’s partnerships,
- the strategic relevance of space capabilities for international security,
- defense budgets and investment priorities,
- solutions for the war in Ukraine.
During the thematic workshops, Sabina actively contributed to developing policy recommendations aimed at reinforcing transatlantic security and established valuable new connections with fellow participants and the organizing team.
