
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Professor Anton Bebler, Honorary President of the Euro-Atlantic Council of Slovenia.
As a long-standing President of the Council, Professor Bebler played a central role in shaping it into a respected and influential forum for strategic thought. Under his leadership, the Council brought together leading experts in defence, security, and diplomacy, while strengthening its engagement with academia and younger generations.
Throughout his tenure, he organised numerous conferences and public discussions of significant societal importance and remained actively involved in the Council’s activities. His sharp intellect, intellectual clarity, and thoughtful engagement left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of working with him.
Professor Bebler will be remembered as an outstanding intellectual, distinguished by his rare ability to connect people and ideas, and by his enduring commitment to understanding and explaining the complexities of international security, defence, and military affairs.
Over the course of his distinguished career, he authored hundreds of academic and professional articles, as well as numerous books, making a lasting contribution to the development of scholarly, professional, and critical thought in Slovenia and beyond.
We remember him with great respect and gratitude, and will continue to honour his legacy as a source of inspiration for future generations of the Euro-Atlantic Council of Slovenia.
