You are cordially invited to a discussion with Andrius Kubilius, European Commissioner for Defence and Space, taking place on Friday, 6 February 2026, at 10:45, at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana, Lecture Hall 3 (Kardeljeva ploščad 5, Ljubljana).

Against the backdrop of today’s evolving geostrategic environment—marked by heightened security challenges at Europe’s borders and intensifying technological competition in the defence and space domains—the discussion will explore how the European Union can strengthen its resilience, strategic autonomy, and international partnerships.

As European Commissioner for Defence and Space, Andrius Kubilius oversees the EU’s defence and space portfolio, with responsibility for developing strategic capabilities, fostering innovation, and strengthening industrial cooperation in areas critical to European security.

The event is jointly organised by the Chair of Defence Studies and the Defence Research Centre of the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Ljubljana, the Euro-Atlantic Council of Slovenia, and the Representation of the European Commission in Slovenia.

The discussion will be moderated by Assoc. Prof. Dr Jelena Juvan.
